Cornell Note-taking

Cornell notes is a very efficient way to take notes. They layout is very helpful when  you are studying for a quiz, or test.  It has a section where you take out the important things in the notes, so when you go back to study, you will know the important thing. Its important to take notes so you will have exactly what the teacher is talking about, or exactly what the document says. When you go back to study it is just like the teacher is teaching again, and just like you are reading the document again.

Argumentation

Argumentation is important because it helps understand the main points and the details about the main point. It’s kind of like writing a paper in English, because it has a topic sentence, three main points, and a conclusion.

Marbury v. Madison

Claim=             the critical importance of the Marbury v. Madison decision is that it established the precedent of Judicial Review.

Data=            Adams, a Federalist, appointed many new judges in his last days as president. Whom Jefferson took office; he refused to deliver their commissions.

Warrant=            therefore, Marbury sued to receive his commission.

Data=            John Marshall, the chief justice, ruled that he did not have the power to issue the writ.

Warrant=             John Marshall understood that if the court awarded Marbury a writ of mandamus the Jefferson administration would ignore it.

Data=            Marshall declared that Madison should have delivered the commission to Marbury. But Marshall did not have the power to do so under the constitution.

Warrant=            He was able to chastise the Jefferson and yet not create a situation in which a court order would be flouted.

Impact=            The Marbury v. Madison was an argument between Marbury v. Madison. It all started when Madison didn’t deliver Marbury’s commissions. Since Madison didn’t deliver them, Marbury sued Madison to force him to deliver his commission as a justice of the peace.

Document Analysis

The document analysis is important because it gives you organization of the document you are reading. The SOAPS stands for; speaker, occasion, audience, purpose, significance.

Mayflower compact

In the name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread Sovereigne Lord, King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britaine, France and Ireland king, defender of the faith, etc. having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honour of our king and country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the Northerne parts of Virginia, doe by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civill body politick, for our better ordering and preservation, and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enacte, constitute, and frame such just and equall laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions and offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meete and convenient for the generall good of the Colonie unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. Symbolic Representation

Symbolic representation is a good way to study and memorize stuff. Its easy to study because it shows a picture of what the amendments mean, helps you understand the amendments so much more. It’s a good way to memorize the amendments because you can just memorize the picture, and then understand the amendment.
